GWANGJU, South Korea — Lee Joon-seok, the captain widely derided by families for leaping to safety while the hundreds of people remained inside the sinking South Korean ferry, was sentenced Tuesday to 36 years in jail.

Although he was acquitted of murder, Lee was found guilty of violating “seamen’s law” and abandonment causing death and injury.

The sentence was the culmination of a five-month trial. A panel of three judges delivered the verdict and the sentence for Lee, who was accused of multiple charges including negligence, abandonment, and murder, for his conduct on the Sewol ferry that sunk on April 16.

Prosecutors had sought the death penalty for Lee, alleging that he did not use the available equipment such as life rafts, life vests and announcements to evacuate the passengers.

John Wick Movie Review

You know, I’m not one for action all that much, but god damn I think this movie might have converted me. Especially that god damn soundtrack, like holy shit!

John Wick is the new Keanu Reeves film from first time director David Leitch – man, he’s the best damn newbie I’ve ever seen! The story revolves around Reeves character, aptly named John Wick, as he gets a dog from his dead wife for a gift, then watches the dog get murdered by some bad dudes and goes for deathly revenge against the criminals. It’s a classic revenge film, where Reeves just gets to be a total bad-ass and kick some ass against some big-time baddies. Nice.

Now, I’ve given Keanu Reeves a lot of heat over the years; he’s been in some great films (Matrix), some okay films (Speed), some bad films (The Day the…

The Judge: Movie Review

Dreamcatcher's Blog- Movies, Music etc

I like Court room drama. They are fun if done well. It keeps you on the edge of your seat and you want to know how will things pan out. Also we don’t get to see Robert Downey Jr doing roles other than Iron Man or Sherlock Holmes that often.  But in The Judge, he plays a real human being and a lawyer who has his own problems in life.

Not a simple courtroom drama at all, the story is more about Hank Palmer (Downey)’s struggle to understand his relationship with his father(Duvall) and to accept where he came from. Cocky Robert Downey Jr plays lawyer Hank Palmer, who returns to his home after his Mother passes away. His father is an esteemed Judge Palmer of Carlinville, Indiana who gets in trouble with the police and then it all starts there. Whether did Judge Palmer mean to kill the man or was it just…

Most people seek shelter, while others run towards the vortex, testing how far a storm chaser will go for that once-in-a-lifetime shot.

Into The Storm (2014)

Review: Into The Storm is a film told through the eyes and lenses of professional storm chasers, thrill-seeking amateurs, and courageous townspeople. Not since Twister have we seen Mother Nature at her most extreme. Probably with one exception.. This tornado is bigger!

The film is set in the town of Silverton, Oklahoma. While students and people of…
