THE LAST TIME I LIED BY RILEY SAGER

The Last Time I Lied By Riley Sager

        ( Guilt Of Lies )

SYNOPSIS

Two Truths and a Lie. The girls played it all the time in their tiny cabin at Camp Nightingale. Vivian, Natalie, Allison, and first-time camper Emma Davis, the youngest of the group. The games ended when Emma sleepily watched the others sneak out of the cabin in the dead of night. The last she–or anyone–saw of them was Vivian closing the cabin door behind her, hushing Emma with a finger pressed to her lips.

Now a rising star in the New York art scene, Emma turns her past into paintings–massive canvases filled with dark leaves and gnarled branches that cover ghostly shapes in white dresses. The paintings catch attention of Francesca Harris-White, the socialite and wealthy owner of Camp Nightingale. When Francesca implores her to return to the newly reopened camp as a painting instructor, Emma sees an opportunity to try to find out what really happened to her friends.

Yet it’s immediately clear that all is not right at Camp Nightingale. Already haunted by memories from fifteen years ago, Emma discovers a security camera pointed directly at her cabin, mounting mistrust from Francesca and, most disturbing of all, cryptic clues Vivian left about the camp’s twisted origins. As she digs deeper, Emma finds herself sorting through lies from the past while facing threats from both man and nature in the present.

And the closer she gets to the truth about Camp Nightingale, the more she realizes it may come at a deadly price.

Reconstructing Amelia By Kimberly McCreight

( The Anonymous Text Message )

Kate Baron, a single mother and a lawyer, was interrupted by a phone call with a disturbing new: her daughter Amelia caught cheating so the school had suspended. Kate can’t believe that Amelia, an intelligent and level-headed girl who’s never been in trouble would do something like that. But by the time she arrives at the Grace Hall, Kate’s faced with far more devastating news. Amelia is dead.

Seemingly unable to cope with what she’d done, a despondent Amelia has jumped from the school’s roof in an act of “spontaneous” suicide. At least that’s the story Grace Hall and the police tell Kate. And overwhelmed as she is by her own guilt and shattered by grief, it is the story that Kate believes until she gets the anonymous text : she didn’t jump.

sifting through Amelia’s text messages, social media postings and cell phone logs, Kate determined to learn the heartbreaking truth about why Amelia was on Grace Hall’s roof that day – and why she died.

FOUR WORDS LEFT

The Note By Reggie Turk

One year ago Chellie Morris drove through a stop sign less than a mile from her house into the stampeding traffic of State Route 30. Nathan, her husband, arrived home after the accident to find a four word note on a bookshelf; not a suicide note, not a goodbye, not even a reminder for something he might forget, just four unexplainable words.

Too much alcohol and too little sleep have turned the last 365 days into a stagnant haze. Painful flashes from the last day, uneven rewinds of the past, and the haunting words of the note chaotically rumble and roll through his mind.
Four words only, four words left.
