MAD MAX – FURY ROAD (2015): For The Portrayals Of Madness

The Movie My Life

Mad Max - Fury Road (2015), Charlize Theron Mad Max – Fury Road (2015), Charlize Theron

I remember absolutely nothing about the original Mad Max films. I’m not even sure that I’ve ever properly watched one. However, after seeing the teaser trailer for the 2015 version (Mad Max, Fury Road), it looks to be a fantastic spectacle.

Teaser Trailer >

All that’s left for me to do is get in the mood for another apocalyptic tale. Somehow I think Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult will manage to convince me. After all, what’s more intriguing than portrayals of ‘mad’ by talented Actors? Yes. Nothing.

After the tease… The Official Main Trailer >

How amazing was that? Talk About Relentless!

The Final Trailer >

And so the final stretch of the wait begins.

Happy Mad Max – Fury Road 🙂

THE REVENANT: Trailer Of The Week From Leonardo DiCaprio & Tom Hardy

The Movie My Life

The Revenant (2015), Leonardo DiCaprio The Revenant (2015), Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy… There are very few other names that get me as excited about the release of a brand new trailer than these two, and what a beauty we have here…

The Revenant, is from Alejandro González Iñárritu, the Director of the 2015 Best Picture Oscar winning film, Birdman (2014)

Based on this stomper of a  teaser, the film’s tale of vengeance might just be the one. You know, the film that finally gets that Best Actor golden trophy in the hands of…

Happy Revenant 🙂

EX MACHINA (2015): Vikander’s Portrayal Will Leave You Wanting More

The Movie My Life

Ex Machina (2015), Alicia Vikander Ex Machina (2015), Alicia Vikander

Ex Machina comes from Writer / Director, Alex Garland and stars Alicia Vikander, Domhnall Gleeson and Oscar Isaac.

I almost don’t want to say too much about the film, except that you should watch it because you’ll have no regrets afterwords. This is a sci-fi drama about artificial intelligence that has three key characters, one of whom is a beautiful and very smart female A.I. Can one say ‘whom’ in reference to A.I…? I digress.

Ex Machina is well written and delivers many tension filled moments to keep you locked in; moments that are brilliantly partnered with just the right musical score.

You will get to the end and want to know immediately when the sequel is coming. Sadly I don’t have the answer to that question. Nor do I have any knowledge of whether a sequel is even planned. But live in hope we…

THE MARTIAN (2015): Another Space Sci-Fi Hit Is Coming

The Movie My Life

The Martian (2015), Matt Damon The Martian (2015), Matt Damon

The new film from Ridley Scott, Director of many hit films including Gladiator (2000) stars Matt Damon and looks amazing.

As excited as I undoubtedly am, something tells me I’m probably going to get my heart broken, and by that I don’t mean I’ll be disappointed but that something similar to the end of 1998’s Armageddon might happen. I’d rather be pleasantly surprised than have that particular theory come to fruition.

Then again, on the other hand, whatever it takes for the film to be great.

Bring on November.

Happy The Martian 🙂

People are disappearing in Christchurch. Cooper Riley, a psychology professor, doesn’t make it to work one day. Emma Green, one of his students, doesn’t make it home. When ex-cop Theodore Tate is released from a four-month prison stint, he’s asked by Green’s father to help find Emma. After all, Tate was in jail for nearly killing her in a DUI accident the year before, so he owes him big time. What neither of them knows is that a former mental patient is holding people prisoner as part of his growing collection of serial killer souvenirs. Now he has acquired the ultimate collector’s item an actual killer. Meanwhile, clues keep pulling Tate back to Grover Hills, the mental institution that closed down three years ago. Very bad things happened there. Those who managed to survive would prefer keeping their memories buried. A POSTER BOY FOR DEATH PENALTY

Joe Victim By Paul Cleave

Joe doesn’t remember killing anyone, so there’ s no way a jury can convict him of serial murder. He calls himself Joe Victim, trying, as he awaits trial, to convince the psychiatrists that he wasn’t in control of his actions, trusting that the system will save him in the end.

But others know Joe as the infamous Christchurch Carver and they want to see him dead. There’s Melissa, Joe’s accomplice in one of the murders, who plans on shooting him on his way to the courthouse before he gets a chance to start talking. Then there’s Raphael, whose daughter was one of the Carver’s victims. Though he’s tried to move on with life as the leader of a counseling group for grieving family members, he’d like nothing more than to watch Joe pay. Finally there’s Carl Schroder, the ex-detective who locked Joe up and is determined to put things right for the case of his career. To extract himself from this epic mess, Joe has come up with a desperate plan involving a television psychic who’s looking to get rich by making people believe just about anything. It’s a long shot, but it had better work before he becomes the poster boy for a death penalty that may be reinstated in New Zealand, which isn’t quite the dramatic ending he is hoping for.

MY OPINION: A Must Read

THE CHRISTCHURCH CARVER

The Cleaner By Paul Cleave
Joe is in control of everything in his simple life, including both his day job at the police department and his ‘night work’. He remembers to feed his fish twice a day and visit his mother at least once a week, although he occasionally peppers her coffee with rat poison. He is not bothered by the reports of The Christchurch Carver, who, they say, murdered seven women.
Joe knows the carver has only killed six women. He knows that for a fact. And Joe is going to find that copy-cat killer, punish him for the one and then frame him for the other six. It’s a perfect plan because he already knows he can outwit the police. All he has to do now is take care of all the women who keep getting in his way his domineering mother for one. Then there is Sally, the maintenance worker who sees him as a replacement for her dead brother, and the mysterious Melissa, the only woman to have ever understood him, but whose fantasies of blackmail and torture no longer have any place in Joe’s investigation.

MYSTERY

The Fold By Peter Clines

The folks in Mike Erikson’s small New England town would say he’s just your average, everyday guy. And that’s exactly how Mike likes it. Sure, the life he’s chosen isn’t much of a challenge to someone with his unique gifts, but he’s content with his quiet and peaceful existence.

That is, until an old friend presents him with an irresistible mystery, one that Mike is uniquely qualified to solve: far out in the California desert, a team of DARPA scientists has invented a device they affectionately call the Albuquerque Door. Using a cryptic computer equation and magnetic fields to “fold” dimensions, it shrinks distances so that a traveler can travel hundreds of feet with a single step. The invention promises to make mankind’s dreams of teleportation a reality. And, the scientists insist, traveling through the Door is completely safe. Yet evidence is mounting that this miraculous machine isn’t quite what it seems and that its creators are harboring a dangerous secret. As his investigations draw him deeper into the puzzle, Mike begins to fear there’s only one answer that makes sense. And if he’s right, it may only be a matter of time before the project destroys everything.
